Privacy Notice
What the register holds, why we hold it, who can see it, and how to have your details removed. Version 1.0, September 2026.
Who holds your details
The Tachoni Heritage & Development Trust, Webuye, Bungoma County. Registration as a data controller with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner is in progress and the number will be published here when issued.
What we collect
- Your name, phone number and whether it is on WhatsApp
- Your clan and sub-clan, and your ward
- What you do, and an age band — never your date of birth
- Whether you are on the voters’ roll, if you choose to say. This is optional and answering changes nothing about your entry.
- Whether you would serve your ward, and what you think your ward needs
Why
To maintain the community register and the clan record; to build an accurate count ahead of the 2029 census; to compile the Charter from what people actually say they need; and to contact you about the archive, the festival and the Charter. Nothing else.
Who sees it
The Trust’s administrators, and — for their own ward only — that ward’s coordinator. Nobody else.
We do not sell, share, trade or lend the register. Not to a political party, not to a campaign, not to a candidate, not to a researcher, not to anyone. Aggregate figures — how many of us are in a ward, how many clans are recorded — may be published. Your name and number never are, unless you are a named coordinator and have agreed to that separately.
How long
Until you ask us to remove you. Unfinished submissions are cleared after twenty-four months.
Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act 2019 you may ask what we hold about you, have it corrected, have it deleted, or object to how it is used. Reply STOP to any message, or write to the Trust. We will act within thirty days and confirm when it is done.
Security
Phone numbers are encrypted where they are stored. Access is limited to named administrators. Any breach affecting your details will be reported to the Commissioner within seventy-two hours and to you directly.
